Phlebology is the field of medicine that deals with vein diseases. It has been an established medical specialty in Europe for 50 years; serious interest in phlebology has developed over the last 15 years in the United States. This interest culminated in the American Medical Association recognizing Phlebology as a self-designated specialty in 2005.
